Chevrolet Enjoy launched
Chevrolet India has launched their new multi-purpose vehicle Enjoy to exploit the growing MUV segment. Coming at the back of last month’s sedan launch- Sail, Chevrolet is trying hard to boost its sales in the country.
To take on a segment that is dominated by Toyota Innova and Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet has smartly come out with a desirable product in Enjoy. The vehicle will be available in two engine types – petrol and diesel. The 1399 cc DOHC petrol engine will give out a power of 103 bhp and a maximum torque of 131 Nm @ 4400 rpm while the 1.3L Smartech diesel engine will give out 76 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 188 Nm @ 1750 rpm. Both the engines will be available in 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is sturdy and boasts of McPherson Strut suspension in the front and Multi Link Coil spring at rear. The ride is expected to be smooth with Passive Twin-Tube Gas Filled Shock Absorbers on all four sides. The vehicle has disc brakes in the front and the drum brakes at the rear.
Keeping in mind the needs of the Indian customers, Chevrolet has loaded it with many features like the raked bonnet, the stylish fog lamps, chrome plated grille and swoopy headlights. The MUV looks even more appealing with tinted windshields and an integrated lip spoiler. Enjoy has B and C pillars and large pentagonal glass for the third row.
The interior is carefully designed. All the three rows have comfortable seating arrangement and are spacious. Beige coloured upholstery adorns Enjoy’s luxurious interiors that are further enhanced by the dual-tone dash with chrome inserts. But what Chevrolet has really disappoints us is that the cup holders are not deep and can hold small cans only, and the vehicle has a single-DIN unit music system. Enjoy comes with all latest safety features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags for driver and front passenger and a strong braking system.
The Enjoy was first showcased at the 11th Auto Expo held in New Delhi and the MUVis going to give tough competition to Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and Nissan Evalia. Chevrolet Enjoy will be available in three variants namely LS, LT and LTZ. It will be available in both 8-seater and 7-seater options. Colour options available are Velvet Red, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Switch Blade Silver, Sanddrift Grey and Summit White.
Chevrolet has priced Enjoy between Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is a very aggressing pricing strategy in its segment. It will be about Rs 40,000 to Rs 70,000 cheaper than the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
At the launch of the product, P Balendran, VP, General Motors India said, “Enjoy is positioned in the fastest growing Utility Vehicle space. With its features and aggressive prices, we hope to get good response from the market.”
